4 Februari (Sunday early morning), Amsterdam The Netherlands. The day before the big concert of Eminem in Ahoy’, Rotterdam there was supposed to be an even biger event. Not biger in the
meaning of sale numbers. But in the meaning of history. The Netherlands
are nowhere in the landscape of sales figures. Soundscan could not even hear us when the whole wide world would be covered
in silence. But we do put a stamp on the map as it comes down
to making history. Being a paradise for foreign artists.
On Sunday evening there is the big concert in Ahoy’, Rotterdam,
with main act Eminem and as support act Outkast and Xzibit. The night before it was planned to have an undercover party
in Paradiso, Amsterdam. A small venue where history was written before. With a line
up with Outkast and Xibit it was also to be no suprise when Eminem
would show up. Making the whole night in a big happy jam.
Sadly on arrival, the notes on the door passed the message: “Outkast and Xibit cancelled. Instead Spooks.” The entrance price dropped from +ƒ35,- to ƒ20,-. As it was an
dissapointment, people looked out to see the Spooks. As they made
a name for themselves as good entertainers with good music. Outkast
was cancelled because Big Boi became father once more. He took a flight back home to take care
of his child. We congratulate him and the rest of the family.
To receive a child is a good reason to cancel the show. They will
also not perform tomorrow in Ahoy’, Rotterdam. For Xibit it was
said on the streets that he never was supposed to show up at all.
That is no good excuse. So who fooled us?
The crowd was big. The line long. Finally in, people where waithing
for the Spooks to come out. But as it came out the Spooks where
never seen. They where ghost. According to inside information
they did not want to perform because two of their own wireless
Mics did not work. Paradiso offered two other wireless Mics with
three normal Mics. But the Spooks did not go with that. It all
came down that many fans paid a lot of money to get to the venue
in Amsterdam. Paid the entrance fee and could only get a the ticket
money back.
What promissed to be a hell of a night became a bad exit when
there was no Xibit. Out it was when there was no Outkast. The
evening went death when the Spooks where ghost.
