After four weeks finally a report about the Turntablized Final '99 and the Rahzel concert from past century, kinda late ain’t it? Well, yes. We supposed to have these articles ready and on the net the day after the show. But not everyrbody does what he says, so our excuse for the delay.

Turntablized Final '99

DJ Broky B, DJ Kypski and host Brainpower

Amsterdam Paradiso, 19 December 1999. Bassline host the Turntablized Final ’99. For the third time in a row DJ Kypski took home the title. And what would he do with three Vestax Pro 07 mixers? Well he gave one away to his friend and colleague DJ Broky B. The jury and organisation alos told him he was not allowed to join next year.

In the final he had to battle DJ DNS, he pointed out with De La Souls ‘Three Is The Magic Number’ that he should win. The competitors compete each other through DJ vs DJ battles. The winner of a battle will battle the winner of the other battle. Lined up were Yodaw vs Kypski, DNS vs Extraa, Pressteez vs Rockid, Broky B vs Chief. And the half finals was made up with Kypski vs DNS and Presteez vs Broky B.

Some straight up no-good and other pretty decent.

Now, something strange happened. The winner of the battle between Kypski and DNS should have to compete with the winner of the battle between Pressteez and Broky B. But the final was between Kypski and DNS. What happened? Well, Pressteez smacked Brocky B’s ass. And Kypski whipped DNS’ ass. So it should have been Kypski vs Pressteez, with all common logic. But the jury, that consisted out of Hyped Hendrix, KnowHow and The Desperados thought DNS was a lot better than Presteez. So they decided the final battle had to be between DNS and Kypski. Broky B and Yodaw both won a Casio G-Shock respectively for the award Veteran and Rooky Of The Year.

That we, ART12, are not the only ones complaining about the fucked up light set of Paradiso was made clear by the organisation. "We even had to tell the lightman to turn up the light on stage and stop playing with the rest of the set because the DJ’s could not see their own turntables in the dark.", said one of the GRAP staff.

From one element to another…

Rahzel

After Turntablized we were getting ready for the Godfather Of Noise: Rahzel. At last around two o’clock in the morning his DJ JS1 started the show. With a mad set to show his skills after all those Turntablized DJ’ she could not afford to come wack, lazy or as any other American DJ in general. DJ JS1 showed some skills.

Sick as hell, Rahzel still dropped a show people still can’t believe. He should have done only an one hour show. But even with a fucked up flue he showed respect with a one and a half hour show. Delivering a concert were you not just jump around or be tough. But just chill, stand, dance and be amazed and shouting on demand: "I feel alright." On his CD ‘Make The Music 2000’ he does some amazing tricks (check the review) what takes a while before you get a clue how he does it. After a while you believe what he does with that Human Beatbox. But still I saw it with my own eyes, I heard it with my own eyes for one and a half hour. Man, I really still can’t believe what I heard and saw. Yes, he definitely did proof that what he does is real. But I just can’t understand it. I need to see him again.
