Da Brat in Amsterdam

Sunday july 2nd, Da Brat at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. What a night it was. The first female rap artist to go platinum, Miss Da Brat from Chicago, performed at an sold out Melkweg. Although the doors opened at 10 p.m, the show started two and a half hours later. The two support RnB acts Ruff Endz and singer Sahnique opened the evening. Murth who did his job as a host/stand up comedian very well that evening, announced the main act of that evening: Da Brat.

Da Brat

Da Brat made a pretty wild entrance on stage, backed up by her DJ Shakim and lots of security too. She performed hits such as her debut single ‘Funkdafied’ in front of, as she said it, "A very live crowd."(everybody was dancing and singing along). Obviously Da Brat had already built a small party in her dressing room, ‘cause she entered the stage with a big bottle of champagne which she, and a couple of people in the audience (they had to open their mouths) drunk until it was fully empty. She even walked around on stage with her boxer shorts on, showed her breasts. Damn… I never thought she was that crazy.

During a break, Da Brat’s DJ Shakim did a very impressive set, showcasing his DJ skills and the fact that he could do all of that with not only his hands but his feet (showing off his new Nikes) as well, while playing Lords of the Underground’s Chief Rocka. After that Da Brat was back to do a few freestyles and more of her songs including her latest single, What ‘Chu Like. But that was about it. Da Brat was exhausted and did not had the energy to continue.

Some people actually got a little mad, but forgot all about that as she chilled on stage with everybody and signed autographs. Peeps even got a chance to bust a few freestyles on stage including Tripe X Soldier Cane. The party continued ‘till four in the morning.

I guess you can say it was a pretty, entertaining night.
