Rotterdam, October 18th. Hey, long time we didnt join a release party. So although everybody was tired as hell we just went. At the Nighttown venue in the city of Rotterdam we hooked up with Loot and his crew. Big up to the security manager for being a relaxed guy. It was a party with some industry captains. Social Life, CMC/Soul Relation, Top Notch, also Radio and TV Rotterdam, TMF's Jeroen-something, Gunmen Committee, Drastic Measures etc.
Although Kees de Koning said in the Nieuwe Revu (national weekly magazine): "I really don't know anybody who does not like him", it was surprisingly less crowded than we expected.
The longest running cat in the bizz finally drops his debut album. The evening was good, the artists selection was good, the sound was good, the light was very good (yo Paradiso go there and see how it should be done), the spirit was good. But the venue was half packed. On the other hand it gave a luxury of space to take my time to make pictures.
The ladies were not only fine they were hot! But in front of the stage it was still awfully quiet. There were too many cats wasting their time being though while all the ingredients were there for a party. Well whatever was sticked on the wall, we had a good time. Chatting, observing, drinking, joking and swinging.
Def Rhymes gave a jack away and did a nice show. His new single soon to be released on Top Notch is a catchy party track about money. With a lovely girl singing and pulling up her dress. That did look very stupid. Deante, well it was something, we did not pay that much attention to them. Miss foxy lady her self, Manuska really took our attention. Sexy dressed, great voice, good music and a great performance. With that twinkle in her eyes of nasty fun. She would even have more fun performing later in the evening the song 'Game' in a duet with E-Life.
When time was ready for the Grand E the Spookrijders came on stage for a surprise performance. It was on request of the E himself. They had the crowd moving. And finally it was time for the Grand himself. Backed up with DJ Precise he did perform a good and tight show. With live featuring of Karima and Manuska. Compared with the show given a day later in Amsterdam you really noticed how tight it was. They both were almost the same. Only I would have loved to see him perform Stacked With Honors featuring Tasha, my favorite song. Without notable mistakes and both shows were almost exactly the same.
When E and his hype man Ganza started to play with the crowd it finally gave the impression of a full venue. It sounded if the majority of the crowd stood in the back of the hall. But still it was remarkable that E-Life and all the acts were not getting that much love as you should think they would get. With the Postmen CD release party it was the same people told us. Although all the reasons were there, it was not sold out. We could not conclude why. Can somebody tell us why?
We just had a great evening and want to say: E-Life, congratulations with your album.
